Kliniderm® Super Fiber + Antimicrobial Polymer Technology

About Kliniderm® Super Fiber + Antimicrobial Polymer Technology (APT)

Kliniderm Super Fiber + APTTM are 200 gsm fibers, they are soft and conformable non-woven dressings made from sodium, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) fibers and strengthening cellulose fibers with antimicrobial polymer, quaternary polyethyleneimine (QPEI). The QPEI polymer when incorporated into the wound dressing, and in contact with wound exudate, prevents bacterial colonization in the dressing due to its antimicrobial activity. The absorption of exudate into the dressing forms a gel that assists in maintaining a moist wound environment, supports autolytic debridement and improves the wound edge and surrounding skin from maceration. Through the gel formation the structure of the dressing remains intact.
When dry, Kliniderm Super Fiber + APTTM can easily be cut to the size of the wound. Even when the dressing is moist, as gelled fiber, its structure remains intact. The high vertical absorption of exudate into the fiber dressing improve the wound environment and the wound edge. The product can also be used under compression.
Kliniderm Super Fiber + APTTM can be used as primary dressing on moderate to heavily exuding red wounds. The dressing can remain in place for 7 days.

Indications

  • Acute or chronic wounds
  • Leg ulcers, pressure ulcers (stage ii to iv) and diabetic ulcers
  • Surgical wounds (e.g. post-operative, wounds left to heal by secondary intent and donor sites)
  • Traumatic wounds (e.g. abrasions and lacerations)
  • Exuding oncology wounds
  • Superficial or cavity wounds

Contra-Indications

  • Kliniderm Super Fiber + APTTM should not be used on patients with known sensitivity or allergy to quaternary ammonium compounds or any other component of the dressing.

Directions for use

Preparing the Wound
  1. Clean the wound carefully using sterile gloves and instruments, ensuring a sterile field. Use a sterile saline solution (0.9%) to cleanse the wound or follow local clinical protocols. The skin surrounding the wound should be clean and dry before applying the dressing.
Applying the Wound Dressing
  1. Select an appropriate size and format (pad or rope). To avoid contamination, cut the dressing with sterile scissors outside the wound area. Use sterile gloves, scissors, and maintain an aseptic non-touch technique.
  2. Place the dressing on the wound, overlapping the wound edges by approximately 1cm. If there is minimal exudate, in certain areas, moisten the dressing using sterile saline solution (0.9%) or following local cleansing protocols.
  3. For cavity wounds, use the rope format. Lightly insert the dressing into the wound cavity, ensuring not to overfill it, and leave approximately 2.5cm outside the wound for safe removal.
  4. Apply a suitable moisture-retaining secondary dressing to keep the product in place.
  5. Note: Check the primary packaging integrity before use; do not use if the primary package (pouch) is damaged.

Dressing change:

  1. Change the dressing as medically indicated, such as when it reaches its absorption capacity, when leakage occurs, or per local wound care protocols.
  2. The interval between dressing changes should not be more than 7 days.
  3. Use sterile forceps or a gloved hand, according to local protocols, to gently remove the dressing. If adherence to the wound bed occurs, moisten the dressing with sterile saline solution (0.9%) or per local protocol to avoid disturbing the wound healing process.
  4. Gently cleanse and irrigate the wound following local protocols and remove any residuals, especially in wound cavities.
  5. The device use should be discontinued after 30-day treatment cycle.
  6. Dispose of used dressing and materials following local biomedical waste protocols.
  7. Kliniderm Super Fiber + APTTM can be used with a secondary dressing at the discretion of the physician.
